LG Optimus G Pro – Big and Powerful

LG has been trying extremely hard to make headways into the crowded smartphone market with limited success. The company is now trying to beat its competitors with a phablet size smartphone called the Optimus G Pro, which promises to offer users a truly amazing smartphone experience thanks to its top class specs and features. Let’s find out more about this Android phone in our detailed review.

Design:
The LG Optimus G Pro is built from plastic and has a removable back panel which means you get to access the battery and microSD card slot. With the dimensions of 150.2 x 76.1 x 9.4 mm, the phone is undoubtedly, one of the largest phones available in the market. Due to the huge dimensions, most users are likely face discomfort while handling the phone with a single hand. However, the phone looks amazingly stylish and premium thanks to its gorgeous display and the glossy black finish on its body.

Display:
The LG Optimus G Pro is equipped with a large 5.5 inch IPS Plus LCD capacitive touchscreen with a True Full HD resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels, which gives it a pixel density of 400 ppi resulting in crisp and clear images and text. The display is extremely sharp, bright and vivid, meaning you get a great viewing experience while web browsing, watching movies or photos. However, the viewing angles are a bit of a letdown compared to other panels. LG has added a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass over the screen which makes it less prone to scratches and other damage.

Camera:
The Optimus G Pro rolls out with a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera which has the ability to shoot full HD 1080p videos. The secondary camera is a 2.1 megapixel sensor which is also capable of 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second. Apart from the usual features like geo-tagging, image stabilization, time shift, panorama, HDR mode, face detection, smile shot and various shooting modes, LG has also introduced a dual-recording mode which allows you to capture videos by using both the cameras simultaneously.

Features:
The phone has a quad-core Snapdragon processor with a clock speed of 1.7 GHz, Adreno 320 graphics and 2 GB of RAM under the hood. It runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with LG’s custom user interface skin on top of it. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset on the phone is one of the fastest available in the market so users are assured for fast and snappy performance. LG has added a few innovative features like Q Slide which allows users to view three different applications and the same time. Just like the recently launched Galaxy S4, the Optimus G Pro also comes with an IR port which allows you to use the phone as a remote control.

Battery and Call Quality:
The handset features a 3140 mAH removable battery which promises to keep the phone running all day long on a single charge Furthermore; it also supports Qi wireless charging straight out of the box. In terms of call quality, it offers excellent voice clarity even in the hands free mode.

Conclusion:
The LG Optimus G Pro has a solid specs sheet and delivers an incredibly powerful performance. Until now, the Galaxy Note 2 has been dominating the phablet segment of the market, but the G Pro raises the bar higher by outperforming it on almost all fronts. If you’re comfortable with its size and pricing, there are not many reasons why should be looking anywhere else for an amazing smartphone.
