Facebook Timeline-Bye to profiles!

Timeline is wider than your old profile, and it’s a lot more visual. The first thing you’ll notice is the giant photo right at the top. This is your cover, and it’s completely up to you which of your photos you put here.

As you scroll down past your cover, you’ll see your posts, photos and life events as they happened in time. You choose what’s featured on it . You can star your favorites to double their size or hide things altogether

Facebook announced Timeline at F8 in San Francisco and it was the first announcement too.

Timeline-The new type of facebook profiles will replace the existing ones soon-in few weeks,all set to tell the story of your life.It describes your life on a single page,but completely!Your profile will no longer be filled with your recent activity , but your entire history marked by important stuff.It’s got a timeline to scan through the ages and the user can claim total control over it.

Snippets can be placed in it with third party applications and that features privacy controls.Zuckerberg wants timeline to give the users the feeling of a place that feels like your home which makes them feel proud of them too.

“We didn’t want to just design a place for you to put all of your stories and apps,” Zuckerberg said. “We wanted to make it a place that you are proud to call your home.”

Another interesting news is that your timeline will have a Big photo at the top to greet your visitors.Facebook says,

Fill this wide, open space with a unique image that represents you best. It’s the first thing people see when they visit your timeline.

And that’s gonna be your Cover.

The timeline consists of three parts-

• The cover
• Your stories
• Your apps

Cover

Consists of the big photo that you choose to put up there.

Stories

You’ll see your posts, photos and life events as they happened in time. You choose what’s featured on your timeline.

Apps

As mentioned,you can use apps to express who you are through all the things you do,in the form of snippets.It’ll feature the music you listen to, the recipes you try, the runs you take and lots more,all that you want!These apps also help you know what your friends are up to.You can even join in if you want: play the song they’re listening to etc.
